The Northshore Mall

A question concerning
the Northshore Mall...
Isn't the mall the biggest
tax payer in the City?

I don't know the answer but I did
look up the mall property
on the Peabody GIS website

As you can see, the "mall" is
actually several parcels.
Here is some additional information.

Main Mall Property 69.57 acres $ 213.0 Million
NW Corner (Macy's) 12.75 acres $ 18.4 M
West (Macy's Home) 7.59 acres $ 8.8 M
SE (was JCP) 7.62 acres $ 12.2 M
NE (Sears Auto) 3.6 acres $ 7.0 M

PI,

I am not sure if you are aware of this but the PMLP recently just decided to give all metering rights to Simon Properties. FYI How do you feel about this????

Anon:

I'm sorry but could you explain more about what metering rights are? I have not encountered this term in this context.

Are you saying that the PMLP will be supplying power to the Mall (Simon)... who is then free to distribute it to its tenants at the rates IT chooses to charge?

That seems wrong to me... is that what you mean?

I will ask the new site if they would like me to link to it... that is the proper nettiquete for such things.

PI,

Off topic, I know, can you help provide link or knowledge to city charter online?

Hi WW:

I can't find ANYTHING online... in fact, I can only find this in the Peabody library catalog:

Author: Peabody, Mass. Ordinances, local laws, etc.
Title: Code of ordinances of the City of Peabody, Essex County, Massachusetts.
Publisher: Tallahassee, Florida : Municipal Code Corporation, 1985.

It is in the South Branch Library and is for in-library use only.

Sorry.

Seems pretty slow on here PI. Is it worth the effort this looks liek that Salem blog. Alot of info and work for nothing.

hey PI,

Thanks again. The effort by you is appreciated. I do think that the city web site SHOULD post the city ordinances. I believe it would help them long run with less nonsense calls, as so many more folks could read it themselves. Ain't knowledge great :)

and to the anon. a lot of work maybe but for NOTHING? you couldn't be further from the truth IMHO.

Hi Anon:

I understand your point. It does seem like I might get discouraged if popularity were my point!

But it isn't.

I only made up this blog as a place to post my images and documents (or whatever). Mostly it was so I didn't need to email Fred (or Keith or whoever) and ask them to post them.

Not that they were not willing or would censor me... but it was 1) extra work for them and 2) it might take a long time to show up.

I wanted to be able to post at Fred's and say... "the city code says this and the property looks like this..." and be able to actually show it somewhere!

In the beginning I was only posting links to the images themselves, but folks being curious and all found the bulk of the site, so I made it more public and opened up comments just so folks could ask questions.

Most people have been more than fair and most comments or questions are legitimate.

I hope you better understand the purpose of this place now! Who knows, maybe someday when I have LOTS OF FREE TIME I might pull off something like Fred is doing... but not right now.

Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Fair enough it really is a lot of work. But I do like reading through everything.
